Thanks Dan, Mike & Dennis. Yeah, Dennis, I had a bit more light and was able to shoot this one at f/8. That gave me about 2" DOF. Plenty for a sparrow. This one I shot with the D700. The previous one I used the D300 at f/4. That combo gave me less than 1/2" DOF. I think the bokeh on this one is actually a little more interesting than the earlier shot too.

Excellent capture John, well expsoed and very sharp. I have mixed feelings on the comp, the subject is too centered for my preferences but I love the branch coming out of the lower right corner.

My conundrum exactly, Harry. This seemed the best compromise to me. Actually, I'm relieved. You probably know the Navaho say that if you achieve perfection, you die.
