wow--#5 is all kinds of great.
I love the direct stare the lady with the burka is giving you and even in this setting one which I can't fathom, life is the same, the little child is annoying the father (?) it kind of makes me laugh. Great catch.

There is also a "no bums' unwritten rule in PJ, don't show bums just for bums sake. However, I like the way you presented your shot, showing their enviornment.

Good set--I look forward to more.

Oops, didn't know about the no bums thing, sorry about that. I included it mainly because in every airport we arrived in or departed from there where heaps of people offering to help you with your bags, for tips. Some friends said not to do it because lots of bags get taken. Later in the trip we happened across this scene confirming what happens to bags at the airport entrusted to "helpful" people looking for tips.

Yeah, the little kid was all over the place driving the father nuts. You could tell he was tired and just wanted to rest his eyes a bit at the airport.

Thanks for the comments I appreciate it.

Fair enough. Just to clarify, the "no bums" rule is one that B.D. Colen stipulates in his photography classes. This forum has no rule about it. The point of the rule is that bums, by themselves, generally don't make for very interesting images. The same could be said for street musicians or ladies in fur coats. It is certainly possible to tell a story that includes bums--or street musicians or ladies in fur coats--and even better if you can get all three into the same frame. thumb.gif

Sounds like a great idea for a contest Richard! :-)

Anyway, I love South Africa and these shots give a great impression of how tough live can be in a heaven.

The trip took us from Cape Town to Johannesburg, then to a private game reserve called Lion Sands outside Kruger National Park for a safari and then back to Johannesburg. The pictures above were taken in Jo-Burg. A lot has been accomplished since the days of apartheid, but a lot has yet to be done. Never-the-less South Africa is a culturally rich scenic wonder with many nice people. I would absolutely love it if I get the opportunity to go back.

Here is one from the company garden outside of the Mount Nelson Hotel where we stayed in Cape Town.

And here are a couple from the safari. Hornbills hunting for breakfast. (Not really Street & PJ but I do like them)

And this creature crawled up my wife's leg then her back and ended up on her shoulder before we could get if off (it had a tremendous grip on her shirt). Fortunately she let me photograph it before panicking. :whew
