I've spent the last few days at home shooting a few things in the back yard. I need to be geeting ready for the trip to Mackinaw City next weekend with 300zx and the guys. But I couldn't resist these few shots of a mantis and other critters I found today.

The sedum is really pink now and makes a nice backdrop for the skippers

There are still flies zinging about and this one seemed to like the butterfly bush quite a lot

And then I found this mantis

Manitises are always a hoot to shoot!! Here it is preening...

All very nice shots Pathfinder. I love the last two especially. The mantis seems to be peering into the lens. He's very photogenic. Great eyes.

I love the mantis shots. Excellent.

I have only seen one here once. I have been looking all summer but came up with none.

    Thanks for sharing them,

Don't ya just love those Praying Mantis iloveyou.gif they actually look slightly cunning.
They are a very clean looking bug, and I have to say they are my one of my favourite bugs, but rarely seen in my yard.
Lovely series on your part......thanks for sharing..... Skippy (Australia)

Great shots Pathfinder- the skipper looks like it's laughing.

I never get tired of looking at mantis'; they are so foreign looking. Nice captures, all the shots. I have to agree with Brian in that the skipper looks like it's laughingthumb.gif. And the colors in the fly shot just jump right out of the screen.

    Thanks for buggin' me,
    Chris
