20D & 5D AF tip

Here's a tip that a lot of people probably already know, but I didn't until I read the 5D manual carefully.

Set Custom Function (CFn) 13 to 1. Now the "Multi Controler" (the largish button/joystick just above the big thumb dial) becomes a single AF point selector without having to be enabled. Just hit with your thumb and navigate the the AF point you want. Hit the AF point select button (upper right) and your back to full auto AF point select mode.

I'm thinking that with a little practice, this will vastly improve the usability of these camera's AF systems. The full auto AF select mode is still very limited compared to the 1D family, but quick intuitive AF pont steering would provide a workable alternative in many situations (but not those reflexive "grap" shots.)
If not now, when?

Thanks, Rutt, good tip indeed! I can't imagine that it didn't come with the camera that way.

I will set mine, too. I hope it goes easy.
