Red Kites in Flight

The other week I took these photos of some Red Kites in South West Scotland. I used a 7D with a 50-500 lens. The light was good but I still used an ISO of 800 and a shutter speed of around 1/2000 and 2500 on TV mode.
Can I improve on these photos using different settings? This lens never gets any lighter!!
Cheers
Bob

Bob I think you got some great shots given your ISO settings. I would try bringing your shutter speed to about 1000 to get better ISO. Also on an overcast day a flash with a better beamer would do wonders for these kind of shots.

Thanks for that Glen I will certainly try that the next time I am in the area.

15524779-Ti.gif and I would try applying some noise reduction to the sky in those captures.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Yes you are right Harry. I will be honest I never noticed the noise in the sky.

I probably should have started a new thread but I am using the photos I have shown and my question is. Would I do better with an extension to the bigma?
