Tripod carry options for pack

I have a backpack for some of my gear but the pack doesn't have a way of carrying my tripod.
Is there something out there that I can attach to it to help me carry the tripod.

i know I can get another pack with that feature and I have one but it's a little big for what I want to do.

Thanks

I used my SmugMug camera strap to carry my tripod through the desert. I didn't feel like carrying all my gear in my backpack, so I put the Smuggy strap to good use. I attached one end to the top of the tripod, and the other end went around one of the legs. I was able to carry it across my body. I think they actually sell straps that are made for tripods, but I was being quick and crafty with what I had on hand.:D

Manfrotto makes a nice tripod strap. 30.00 just bought one for a trip. I have a lowepro backpack with tripod holder that works wonderfully. but this trip I want to be able to access my gear without laying my backpack on the ground. So I bought a bigger shoulder bag and the tripod strap if I need to pack it along too. It clips on one end then loops around all the legs to keep them together.
I bought this one because I have big tripods there are other sizes as well.

Bungee cords....I go to a surplus yard here and buy bungee by the foot and you can use it to strap most anything to most any pack or
lashing straps from walmart in the sports dept with the camping gear.

I've used these in the past for this sort of job.
Assuming you want (next to) nothing remaining on the tripod after it's been removed from the backpack.
Gaffer tape on the tripod, then nylon cable tie QR ring to tripod.

Or similar - if say it's possible to buy separate pairs of plastic bayonet type QR fixings - as per (probably) on the backpack itself.

A fellow local snapper who made my beanbag - from half a waterproof trouser leg - used some pretty tenacious extra strength velco strip on one end.
    Might also be an idea?

    Carry tripod
I bought ( at a dealer) a Lowepro tripodholder( very heavy large nylon cup, large enough to hold the botton of the three legs of my Manfrotto CF tripod). The cup itself is designed so that a strap or nylon belt can slide through the rear opening so that the cup stablizes and supports lthe tripod of any lelngth . Limit is how big the small circle of the three closed legs is. I also use a nylon belt that goes over the tripod and the belt goes through a small strap atttachment on each side of the backpack itself. The cup stays there all the time and it just takes less than a minute to loosen the nylon belt that holds the tripod in place. No marks on the tripod or anything else, and backpack functionality does not change.
    good luck.
