Help! Which Wacom to get?

I finally started using my CS5 and LR3 more instead of just using a few actions and whatnot.

So....I'm convinced I need a wacom. I'm on a budget though, and the bamboo model looked pretty good (I think?) or at least the price seems fair, but I don't want to get something a little cheaper and find out later that I really should have gotten such and such model instead for a little more.

I'm just looking for some feedback for those of you who have them.

Thanks!

Don't get the Bamboo. I found it frustrating. I have been using an Intuos4 (small) at work for a long while, and tried to save some money at home. Was not happy. It doesn't have near the accuracy of the Intuos.

I really like the small. I think that unless you're an artist that the larger sizes just mean you have to drag your arm around a larger area. For navigation and normal photographic correction like painting masks in PS the small is fine.

Others out there have tried off brands with some luck. Me, I'd stick with the Intuos, but that's because it's what I know.

Thanks. i was just looking at the site again and noticed the pen on the intuos looked much more precise. The small was the intuos I would be able to afford right now but I was a little worried about the small being "not as good" in some way but I'm lost in the woods as far as actually knowing anything about these things.

    Appreciate the help.

Double thanks! I'm all over it. Glad I didn't jump the gun on the new one.

I did some research and found someone that preferred the 3 over the 4. I just got a NIB PTZ430JP (that's the small 3) for $60 on ebay.

Been using Wacom since the Graphire was out......replaced it finally with a VisTablet.....fantastic tablet mine has a 6.25x10 workspace and and I love it....2 yr warranty and as good as any Wacom I have every tried......that is pretty much all of them including the Cintiq ......nice still having friends that let me play with School toys....
My VisTablet is the Original but they now have several models out....to call it an off brand is absolutely incorrect...it is just another brand and very well made.........

Just a quick note. While the Wacom tablet is more expensive, it does offer 2048 levels of pen pressure sensitivity and resolution of 5080 lines per inch versus the Vistablet's 1048 levels of pen pressure sensitivity and resolution of 2000 lines per inch.

I am not saying you can't get by or be happy with the Vistablet, only that the performance and specifications are not equal.

Just opened the box and will play with it tomorrow.

I think I remember the complaints were about how fast the tips wore out maybe? Not sure.

What do you find better about the 4?

Ordered my 4 off Amazon. Now it's the waiting game. I hate waiting for my packages, but I love when they arrive!
