Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Put it in my sweatshirt pocket. Bent over to pick something up, then boom. Fell about 2 feet onto the ground. Rattles now and zoom doesn't work.:cry

Going to drop it off at Forsters camera repair tomorrow to see what they can do.

I love that flash too! Dumb, Dumb move. I always put stuff on the ground on purpose. If it is on the ground, it can't fall onto the ground....... I need to follow my own advise.

Bummer. I hate when "sh*t happens". :cry Hopefully it won't cost too much to repair.

I opened my passenger side door on my truck about a month ago... and out tumbled a D300S with a Nikkor 70-200 attached. eek7.gif I got lucky on that one.

I abuse my SB-900, to the point that I just repair it myself. Luckily the repairs I had to do was just external.

I tried to take it apart to look inside. I wussed out. I didn't want to make a repair turn into a replace. Dropped it off at Forsters camera repair. $75 is the cost of checking it out and hopefully fixing it. It is a lot cheaper than a new one but still $$$. Whatever broke, should not have broken so easy. It only fell about 2 ft. That sucks......... On the bright side it wasn't a lens.

The Mounts for the gear/worm drive that makes the Zoom funx work is notorious for breaking. It is not at all hard to open it up and repair it. It can be harder trying to find the proper repair part sometimes though. And, And you can get quite the Shock from the nice little capacitor wiring located in that area. After receiving a Shock from it, it is not discharged and will gladly Shock you over and over. Often times, it just makes more sense to hire a pro to deal with it.

Thanks for the link angevin1. Good read on there. Sounds mostly doable IF you can get the parts. We will see what the pros come up with.

Zerodog, not to change the subject, but I like in your sig, "Canon S90 pocket Rocket". :). They are great little cameras!

I hope you get you SB-600 fixed reasonably!!

Good news! My sick SB600 is ready for pick up already. She said it was a broken zoom base. It was a whopping $5 part. So in all it was $80. Not wicked cheap, but way cheaper than a new one.
Here is the link to Forsters. http://www.forsterscamera.com/
They are a Nikon service center and lucky for me right down the street. These guys also did the tune up on my 80-200AFS 2.8. It is smooth as silk now.
