Aperture and text boxes

This is strange. I'm creating a photo book in Aperture and making my own master pages. Every time I add a text box to a layout I get center justified text. Can't get right justified, can't get left justified. I've searched the Aperture 2 user manual PDF to no avail. Nothing pops up for "justification", "justified", even "justi". "Alignment" gets a hit only for photo box alignment. I find this very odd. Any way to change text justification? Do I need to bite the bullet and get Aperture 3?
