walking through the wooded area of my property i came across this male ruffed grouse, part of their mating ritual in spring time is to sit on a perch and beat their wings on their chest starting with a thumping sound that turns into a drumroll to attract the females and this guy put on a show for me, always hear it, finally got to see it

Great series, Brian! Great photos, and something I've never seen before. Appreciate your explanation of what's going on, too. Best, Pam

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

that was great. I love the tiny feather floating in the air when he'd done.
