Signs

I love old signs, especially those abandoned beside a road. Here are a few examples I've found driving around in the streets near where I live.

1. City of cars, well now its not even a village of cars. This sign has been gone for years.

2. Western Way, an old shopping center in a now less desirable location.

3. Skycraft, my favorite place to shop where you can buy almost anything.

4. And Finally, Holler Chevrolet. Their old car lot abandoned for some time. I took this with my trusty holga about 2 weeks before the sign disappeared.

Are you familiar with the comic strip "Zippy, the Pinhead" by William Griffiths? He has a fascination with old signs and diners that appear in Zippy.

I have to remember to shoot more of that myself.

    Great series! thumb.gif

I really like the first one--the weeds add to the abandoned feel. Something about #3 reminds me of William Eggleston, even though it's not in color.
