Lowlight Kid Pics with the D7000

Father's Day is coming up so I needed a few pictures of our son "playing hard" to give to the grandpas. I just got a Tamron 17-50, so I mounted it on the D7000 and headed off to the indoor playground with Nathan. Talk about a lighting nightmare.

Frankly, I miss my primes. The 17-50 was no match for the low light and fast motion. Still, I continue to be absolutely amazed with the D7000s low-light performance. At one point, shooting full manual, I didn't hesitate to set it on ISO 3200. I knew I could get some keepers even at that ISO (and could have gone 6400, but I didn't need to.)

And just for fun: 1/250, f/4.5, ISO 640

Out of those, I like the first the best. Have you tried a different twist in PP on the last one?

Did you use any post noise reduction on those photos? I was seriously debating buying a d7000 (using a d80 right now) and those shots look great at iso 3200. If that's with no noise reduction I'm totally sold.

My post processing includes some global noise reduction in LR3. You should be sold anyway. It's the best low light, crop sensor camera on the market.

It was suggested that I reprocess the third shot in B&W:

Thanks - sorry I missed your first post. Yes, I was trying a kind of Norman Rockwell approach in that first edit. Now I'm working on a better B&W version.
