What's the difference between pasting the google analytics tracking code in your footer, and using the web property ID code in the settings tab in the control panel? I previously had the code in my footer and noticed that there was an option to just paste the web property ID into the settings area, so I changed it. My stats now appear to be significantly lower and seem out of whack.

    Same tracking. But it's better to have the tracking ID put in your control panel, settings tab.

    Thanks Andy. I think I know why I was getting different results. My first tracking code was going to my smugmug site (http://greghonda.smugmug.com) and when I changed it to the control panel, I used my custom host name (http://greghonda.com). I figured it would be the same, but then I saw the details and it seems like some of the sub-galleries, etc were still going to the .smugmug.com url.
