Dying New York

I've neglected photography for awhile now but I recently realized how much fun I had just wondering around taking pictures of things. I decided to forget about homework this weekend and picked up my old buddy and decided to go wild. Hope you like it! :D

I always wanted to capture old infrastructure in NY, I couldn't of found a better place than here, the NYS Pavillion.

1. The scene of the 1964 World's Fair, this place has seen better days.

2. It's off limits to the public, but I snuck in hehehe :wink

3. It's a real shame how they've allowed this place to crumble.

4. The Unisphere, one of the few things which has kept up its appearance since the 60's

Thanks for watching :)

wow...seriously cool. I like your processing...gritty, it brings out the age of the structures.

Thank you, I used HDR Efex while processing these.

Nice work, Homer! I pass them frequently, and even remember to stop and shoot them now and again.

You should check out the last scenes in the first MiB. The setting is the 1964 Worlds Fair site. The disks on the pedestals were space ships.

That said, it's somewhat sad that the site is in disrepair. I've seen it occasionally when visiting NYC, usually coming in from the airport.

These have been dilapitaded since I can remember, well back to the late 80's anyway.
they are about 3 miles from my house, yet I never photograph them--I need to remedy that.

I really like the way the first one came out and the set really.

MY siblings and I went to that Fair in '64 curtesy of my Cousin's 1st husband, who had NTC News plates and cut all the lines for us. We saw in one day what most barely got to see in three! Got me sorely disappointed when I got to see Disney Anaheim in '72. I'd seen two of the attractions, allready, sence teh had been at the Worlds fair!

I like the series. Lots of great opportunities of Rust shots there.

Liz, if you do go.... be careful, it is closed property!

I wonder what leads to something like this being abandoned. I live in the Seattle area and our World's Fair site is still a central tourist district. Your images are striking, both for the processing and their starkness. They've stuck with me all day. Thanks for sharing.
