There's a bit of a story to this photo. Last summer we had this huge flood. Like, nationwide huge. People losing their whole possesions in a blink of an eye and whatnot. I was walking the neighbourhood with a camera hoping for some dramatic shot occasion. I passed a group of volunteers unloading bags with sand from an army truck and just as I was walking over the levee (which was on the brink of breaking by the way) this peculiar sight caught my eye. A group of people brought up several folding deck chairs and were having a spectacle watching the dangerously fast rolling waters and drinking beer. They had a radio playing Louis Armstrong, and up on the sky was this strange thing, looking like a mushroom cloud of all things. I snapped this shot and went away. None of them paid me any heed even though I was shooting right over their heads, with a 24mm lens. Surreal is probably the best word to describe this scene.
I'm a lazy portraitist. I only shoot beautiful women.
