Something is very wrong with keywords.
Photos in these two galleries are tagged with the keyword "hawaii volcanoes national park":
http://www.denisegoldberg.com/Travel/Peles-wonders-Hawaii-2010/Hawaii-Volcanoes-National-Park/11203407_AtDda
http://www.denisegoldberg.com/Travel/Hawaii-2004/Hawaii-Volcanoes-National-Park/272120_goTEo
But - when I go to the keyword page for that keyword, only two photos show (screen shot below):
http://www.denisegoldberg.com/keyword/hawaii%20volcanoes%20national%20park#538256_8fu5f
follow the keyword for "fuller gardens", and only 8 photos show - yet all of the photos in this gallery wear that keyword:

compare this page - http://www.denisegoldberg.com/keyword/goldwell%20open%20air%20museum (showing one photo) - with the photos in these galleries wearing that keyword:
http://www.denisegoldberg.com/Travel/Desert-beckoning-December-2009/Ghosts-of-Rhyolite/10751121_FdtJK
http://www.denisegoldberg.com/Travel/A-return-to-death-November/Rhyolite-ghosts-sculptures/6633241_89BTt
This keyword returns an empty page - http://www.denisegoldberg.com/keyword/hopewell%20rocks. Yet if you look in this gallery - http://www.denisegoldberg.com/Travel/A-tale-of-two-August-2008/Hopewell-Rocks/5822366_jDWV5 - there are many more photos with that keyword.
I'm seeing many more examples of keywords that when clicked do not return the set of photos assigned that keyword.
To say this is disturbing would be an understatement. How can the keyword pages lose track of photos with that keyword?
Your apparent lack of testing has been rising to the top more and more often. I fail to understand how a feature that has been a part of your product for a very long time stops working correctly and it not noticed prior to your "upgrading" the software. (Quotes because the change in behavior is very much a downgrade of functionality).

That's really odd - I just tried again, and they are now returning the correct images. Something is definitely going on - difficult to fix since the problem has now disappeared. I'll keep an eye out and report if it happens again.

The problem occurs on IE8. It does not occur on Firefox.
I will retest when I get home tonight to try different versions of those two browsers + Chrome.

http://cnelsen.smugmug.com/keyword/cory returns 19 pictures if I'm logged out of my smugmug account but shows 26 pictures when I'm logged in.
Could this by your situation?

I've never done anything with the smugislands settings so unless they default to excluding keywords on some photos and not others I doubt that's it. But I'll take a look at the settings and see if they make sense.

That gallery is set to hello world = no and hello smuggers = no, so the behavior you describe is to be expected. Set the SmugIslands to yes if you wish it to show up in keyword searches Thanks!
