Hello-- I've been looking into possibly getting a light kit for use indoors-- for things like portraits-- but there are so many I don't even know where to start! I'm just an amateur at this stuff so I'm really only looking for something that'll get me started but powerful enough to get those decent shots. What does everyone else use? Thanks.

Some times I get lucky and when that happens I show the results here: http://www.xo-studios.com
I have a friend that has this kit. Him and his partner (rather, former partner) got it for $350.00 2 years ago. It's been used twice, and my friend needs cash. He is trying to unload it on me for $125.00.
Has anyone used this, or something similar... is $125.00 a good investment on something like this???
Here are a couple of links to both, the S-V website and to Adorama (I couldn't find this on BH)

Not sure if the umbrellas and stands are worth that much but I would not use the HOT LIGTS for anything aside from artsy still lifes and that is only of the still lifes had no blooming flowers in them.......for portraits...only strobes that way your subjects won't be dying of heat and your ac bill won't go bezerk...................
