Full disclosure: This lens was dropped (about 2 weeks after purchase from B&H in 2007) and the UV filter that was on the front broke. I sent it to canon and they replaced the filter thread and examined the lens, they said no other damage was done. It has never given me any issues and I have used it as my main lens in weddings and portraiture. So I feel confident that it would not give you any problems. The only reason I want to sell it is it just isn't getting much use these days as I have started to use more prime lenses.
