We took a quick trip to Florence and Sicily. I only had limited time to shoot because I had some work lined up and was traveling with my wife. Here are a few of my faves.

Florence, one of the most beautiful places in the worls.

1

A few of the Duomo. I took these at different times of day to get the best sun exposure.

Love the shots, though one or two were ever so slightly oversaturated (the ponte vecchi one).

My favorite is the duomo with the birds in the air barely visible.

The church in siracusa is actually the cathedral. It was originally a greek temple (V century BC or so), later gutted to make a christian church, later converted into a mosque, later back into church. You can still see the columns of the original temple in the side (not in the pictures)

Recently they excavated the altar area, and found out it was used for ritual purposes by the Sicels, the pre-greek population of the island. That is, that place has bee continuously used as a place of worship for the better part of threethousand years.
