Mega 12: apparently I'm all out of color

After spending the last month concentrating on my garden photography, I think I short-circuited the cone cells in my eyeballs....
So, the question is, are these too stark? Blah? Too much negative space? I'm really pushing myself out of my comfort zone on this one.

    Thanks, Paul! You should see his face.....most of it is weathered away and it is creepy as all get out.....

    I like the watcher, too. The face view is also pretty compelling, but seems to need a different crop or other element in the image to give it space and/or context.

    I agree that the watcher has good potential - hi key or not. You could also try more shots similar to the second with different processing and see what you think. That barn is definitely weathered and worn!
