The fog was so thick at the Viera Wetlands that I had to turn on my headlights for fear that someone would run into me! In all that fog, I came across this Softshell Turtle that was walking on the dike road.

    Thank you, Dennis.

The heavy fog made this shot possible. I was able to get a low angle on the turtle, and the fog diffused the light blurring out the white sandy road in the background and foreground.

Ira, Oh yes that fog just made this image happen in every right way along with the low angle and the foreground and background of the sand on the road.

Here is one that I managed to get yesterday, and I have never seen any of these in the park out of the water, seen them in the water but did not think that these guys were that big.

Very nice capture of the Snapping Turtle, Dennis. We also have them at the Viera Wetlands, and they get quite large. They have been known to grab ducks and other birds from the surface of the water.

Thanks Ira, I did not got out there last year but hope to this year when we head down to Florida again. I did not know that they will snag birds out of the water. At least I have never seen it here in the ponds, but you are right they sure are big and I can see how they can take a bird from from on-top of the water. Thanks for the info and something to keep my eyes on next time at the ponds.
