Yesterday morning I had the day to myself. I decided to go out and shoot a covered bridge in a local park. I have been shooting this bridge in different seasons as sort of an ongoing project.
I thought I might get the first of the fall color here in NW Ohio.
There was not a lot of color yet, but you could definately see the signs, Maybe another week or so.
I did find a leaf or two.
This one was backlit with the color glowing from the sun comming through it. I am not sure I captured that, but I like it anyway.
As I aproached the bridge, I took a few shots, The lighting was harsh. The angle I am using for the project is from the other side, maybe the lighting will be better from that side.
...
Nope, still pretty harsh. I will try to come back next week, earlier.
Well maybe I can make the best of it. The harsh light is a little rough on my colors and is very contrasty, but maybe this is a good situation for IR and I dont have an IR shot of the bridge for the project.
While I was shooting this shot ( a 5 sec exposure or so) a guy walked past me and right down the path to the bridge. He doesnt show in the frame because he didn't stop moving.
While I was shooting the bridge and older gentleman on a bicycle rode up to me and stopped. We exchanged the usual nice day stuff. He told me he had been comming here to this park since he was a kid. It has only been a park for about 20 years. Before that, the land and the mansion in the park belonged to the Stranahan family. Wealthy industrialists. He used to come here and play with the Stranahan kids. He told me how the two boys squandered the familiy wealth and, on the verge of bankruptcy, donated the place to the city.
When the fall color is better I will post some shots of the house. Today there was a ugly pick up truck parked in front of it.
After shooting the bridge I had about a half hour before I had to go to work (second shift sux ) so I thought I would walk over to the area with the bird feeders and see what I could see.
There were not a lot of birds about, most of the feeders were empty, and there were no branches close to the feeder that I could reach with my lens. I did take a couple of shots of the water lilies in the pond there.
I did manage a couple of shots of a nuthatch on a feeder before I packed it up.
Thanks for sharring my morning again.
Brian

Thanks for sharing your morning with us. It's a nice break, and lovely photos too. It's nice to get some personal perspective (older man) of something you enjoy shooting.
Thanks for sharing,
Chris
