Arranging Photos Into Galleries

I have 425 photos to upload. They are images of 30 different people. I want to give each person their own gallery.

Can I upload all 425 and then separate them into galleries? Or do I have to manually create Gallery #1 and upload a few, then gallery #2 and upload those, etc.

I want to do this as efficiently as possible.

Hi Kevin! You can upload all the photos to one gallery and then move them to individual galleries but personally I prefer to upload directly to the galleries they belong in. If you are using LR3 this is very easy since you can create the galleries directly in LR and then drag the photos to the galleries and hit Publish and away they go. You can publish multiple galleries at once.

Some of the other uploaders also allow you to upload to multiple galleries at once. Take a look here for our uploaders. http://wiki.smugmug.net/display/SmugMug/Hacks+and+Apps

The smugmug service in lightroom doesn't allow for "sharpen for print" when you export...

You can upload to one gallery and then break them out. It's what I do every week after I ensure my upload made it correctly. thumb.gif

Another option is if you keyworded the images you can use the Smart Galleries in SmugMug to create galleries for each person that will update in the future as well. More info is available at http://www.smugmug.com/help/smart-galleries

As mentioned you can also use Lightroom to generate these multiple galleries as well and upload them. The reason I prefer doing it on SmugMug as a smart gallery instead of in Lightroom as a smart collection that is linked to a SmugMug gallery is to avoid having to upload multiple copies. That might or might not be important to you and something to consider.
