KEH has a BGN 1D Mark II N for like $751. I think this is a good deal for anyone considering getting one.

    Nice!

BTW, of the salespeople there, I've found Dan Orchard to be very helpful:

lack of charger doesn't make it a steal. They are beasts of machines though.

Is there a third-party charger for 1D batteries?

Yeah, the Adorama one is $90 instead of $300 for the Canon... but it has bad reviews. I've heard better things about the ones on ebay.

IMO a beater missing the charger is not a very good deal at all when I see these go used in EX+ condition with all the original accesories for around $1K.

+1. Those chargers are uber-expensive as noted above. I picked up a EX condition 1DMkII (not the N) for $750 CAD a few months ago. There are deals to be found, you've gotta look. Craigslist is awesome.

I tried the generic battery charger, it sucks , gets super hot and sent it back, a Used canon charger still cost me about $200.00 so Yeah, unless you already have one with a charger, or can find another charger at sportshooter or someplace. I had to search for a while. They are great cameras though if you dont mind the weight .
