Simple way to take infrared shots w/Coolpix 950?

I've been admiring infrared shots I've seen on the web (including some by this "andy" guy), and it turns out that my second camera (the Coolpix 950) is supposed to be pretty good for shooting infrared.

Now, I've seen the instructions for modifying the camera. While they look doable, that's a bit more than I really want to do just yet. But I'm kind of confused. Is there a way I can do it without modifying the camera?

    does not need modification
the nikon coolpix 950 ,if my memory serves me correctly, only needs a Hoya R72 IR filter attached and a sunny day-you should be able to get an R72 pretty easily from a camera shop or over the net and start shooting without modifications.play around with white balance for colour IR ,even better set it with a white card if the camera allows you to do so.good luck and enjoy your new addiction
