Beautiful! I love that first one. As for the spider, maybe he was REALLY hungry.

    Thanks TristanP,
I rather liked the colours in the first one. I think the spider was spicing up the food with some chilli sauce .

These pics were taken in very dull weather, temp about 16.C. Makes the flies easier to shoot. That first fly stayed on that leaf for over two hours- I went back and took some more pics of it.

    HI Brian,
The first one is very nice. I like that you included the fall leaf so we knew what the background colors werethumb.gif. Macro's aren't just about the bugs, but the backgrounds too and you hit this one on the head.

And as for the spider, I think its mommy didn't teach it proper eating etiquette:D.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Chris

    Thanks Chris,
I think the pentax 50mm lens I'm using at the moment gives better colour than my sigma 105mm.
I suspect that spider has got a bottle of sauce hidden somewhere :D

Well if it was ketchup, I didn't put it there :)
You can see details of my rig here-

Only difference at the moment is that I'm using an emergency lens as my 105mm macro is away for repair. The lens is made up from a SMC Pentax 50mm F1.7M lens on kmount extension rings (7cms of them) the smallest ring I superglued to an EOS Tmount adapter which I knocked the Tmount out of. This gives almost exactly 1.5:1 magnification. This allows me to fix it to the EOS 300D body but of course it's completely manual. I normally shoot in manual with no AF so that's no problem, but manual aperture makes life difficult- The viewfinder is pretty dim at F11.
