The local GLBT community holds an annual festival where they demonstrate that they can throw a commericalized event was well as the rest of the community.

I headed on down to see some friends and to give my new Fuji X-100 a try. I still need a lot more time with the camera (I forgot I had it set to jpeg instead of RAW) to show it off at its best but it does have potential.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

First, congratulations on the new camera. It looks like it will serve you well as a relatively inconspicuous (looks like a simple, old fashioned, film rangefinder) photojournalistic tool.

That first image is, to me, the most telling and the most fetching, as it has several stories rolled into one image. Nicely done. thumb.gifclap

The IQ is good in all of them. Congratulations on your new toy. It looks like the light was fairly harsh. Is that why you chose B&W? I've shot several Gay Pride events and preferred color for most of the pics.

Thanks Ziggy, I'm still getting used to the camera. This is one camera were you really need to read the manual. 11doh.gif I haven't given it a real workout yet but I'm goig to be in NYC next week so that should be a good test.

    HI Harry,
So shot #1 is just great, I agree w/ Ziggy, but then you scroll down to "blink if you want me" and can't help but laugh.

You have a wonderful mix of shots of the event.
Really enjoyed your series. Can't wait to see what you shoot in NYC.

Thanks Richard, I'm pretty happy with it right now. The light was very harsh, the fets ran from 12-6 when the light can be extreme.

As for the B&W treatment there are a couple of reasons. First I shot in jpeg and used auto WB. The auto WB for some reason gave the images in brght light a strong cyan cast which could have been corrected easily if I had shot in RAW. Secondly this is a very conservative area in central Florida. Our gay events are not as colorful as one in NYC, SF of Key West would be. Think of a "festive" NYC Republican event and you get the idea. Prudential Insurance had one of the more colorful booths.

#1 is a great shot. Also, anyone else think the guys in 2 and 3 totally look like the same person 15 years apart? It's like the guy in shot 2 is actually the same person, and 15 years from now gay pride cups are one of the best selling items on the market, and he remembered the festival he went to in shot 3 and traveled back in time to it to get in on the ground floor of the trend..
