Ability to search when buying packages?

I know from Smugmug support heros that you cannot search for keywords, after choosing a package that has been created, and have only those photos (from a ketword) come up to drag into the various package sizes.
So, it makes for a long process if you have a gallery of 1000 images to choose from.
Was wondering if anyone has had this come up as an obstacle in selling packages.
The assignment is to shoot 400 kids, individual and groups. Each photo will be entered into one gallery (most likely about 1000 images)
Smugmug suggested creating a smart gallery for each child and adding the packages to each of those galleries. But that would mean creating about 400 smart galleries, a project that would take an enormous amount of time and also eat up a huge chunk of space (unless they are unlisted, which is an alternate idea).
What woud be great is if you could choose a "Package" and then be able to do a search for a keyword (the name of the child) and all of the photos with that keyword would come up and you could drag those images into to package options, instead of looking through 1000 images.
The question is, does anyone have an alternate idea for a work-around or have you come across this dilemma before and made something work.

Since there's really no way for you to search the gallery from inside the packages, but your viewers can search keywords, and from the (dynamic) keyword gallery, they can purchase the packages, provided the original gallery settings are set to allow them. That said, to make it easier for your viewers, you can also display your keywords on your homepage, so all they need to do is click the name they're searching for. This (of course) will not work if your galleries are unlisted, or password protected.
If they are private, searching via keywords is not an option, but you can still tag the images in the galleries, perhaps in your caption field, and to make it easier for them to find their child, sort the gallery by either first or last name, so they will have an idea of whether to look at the beginning, middle or the end of the gallery.
You might want to consider placing the group shots in a separate gallery, too. That will give them an easier search. 1000 is a lot of images to go through, in any gallery.
I sure hope that's helpful to you. You can always email us at the help desk, too. Just go here: http://www.smugmug.com/help/emailreal
