D7000 af-area bracket

does anyone knows a way to switch it off or hide it ?

i find it annoying and useless
i allready switched off its red highlighting , but
i want the whole thing gone
[ i dont use auto focus ]


[ talking about #3 , others can be hidden ]

    I don't think there's any way to rid of that "window" on that camera body.

    Yep, it's not going anywhere unfortunately. You can look around for completely different focusing screens, but that would be a specialty item and a "don't try this at home unless you really know what you're doing" type of procedure...

    hey , i dont want to replace the mirror or screen
    just the af-area bracket , #3

    #1 , called grid can be shown / hidden , so why not #3
    i guess its not in the firmware
    pity

    Indeed, I understood your initial query, I was only saying that the only way it is even remotely likely to be possible is if you were to physically replace or modify the focusing screen itself. And even then they might not go away, I dunno you could read up on it on the Katz Eye website or something maybe...

    I totally can relate to your desire, by the way. I wish there was a super-simple DSLR on the market for landscape photographers etc. Manual operation, the proverbial "digital FM2" or "digital AE-1"...
