Smart Gallery Issue

I am trying to create smart galleries for each of my nieces and nephews so their parents can find photos of each kid easily. I have the galleries set to show the newest photos first (Date Taken/Descending order) and using a keyword in the smart settings to find photos of each kid, but the limit of 1000 photos is screwing things up.

I don't care that I can't show more than 1000 photos in the gallery, but I want to be able to have it show the 1000 MOST RECENT photos, not the 1000 OLDEST photos, which is what it is doing now. I temporarily added a start/end date to the smart settings to fix the problem but it is sort of annoying because I'll have to keep changing the start date when the gallery gets full again. Wish I had noticed this limitation before I started tagging old photos... but the problem would have just manifested itself in the future anyway I suppose.

Any thoughts? :dunno

Nobody? Seriously, why does it default to showing the 1000 OLDEST photos for a keyword???

I'm sorry, but at this point smart galleries are capping at 1000 photos and there's no option to have it show the last 1000 photos instead. Your workaround with specifying a date range is the only thing that comes to my mind as well. Would you mind adding this as a suggestion to our feedback pages?

I wish there would be an easier way for your specific use case, but right now we don't have a way to do that.

I guess I just don't "get" why it would show the oldest photos for a keyword by default.

If I click on a keyword on my search page, it shows the most recent first (also shows more than 1000 photos). WHY OH WHY are smart galleries set to pull the 1000 OLDEST photos for a keyword. I just don't get it.
