SmugVault Archive icon instead of JPEGs

Hello,
I activated SmugVault and uploaded some 25-31 MB JPEGs (which are displayed fine in several graphics programs) to an unlisted gallery. I expected JPEGs to be displayed in the gallery however only "SmugVault Archive" icon is visible.

I've read all the help pages and forums here but couldn't find any solution - what can I do to solve the problem?

Pawel

Max megabytes for photos is 24.

See help pages at http://www.smugmug.com/help/upload-photos and http://www.smugmug.com/help/print-quality.

Even with 24MB limit SmugMug should resize JPEGs and display them. Resizing didn't work so I thought I'll try SmugVault and used http://wiki.smugmug.net/display/SmugMug/SmugVault as a reference.

It looks like there is a problem with SmugMug's mechanism for reading >24MB JPEGs - they are not resized nor displayed correctly.

I didn't - it's Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 dpi scan from 35 mm film, JPEG compression is 95% if I remember correctly. I keep files locally that way and just didn't bother to downsize the image before uploading to SmugMug (and I'd rather not bother - I'd like to just drag'n'drop images from my DAM software to SmugMug uploader). :):

I can't say why we didn't make an auto generated preview. I suggest uploading a < 24Mb and <48Megapixel file as a jpg, and then storing your giant jpg as an attached Vault file.

That's not a solution for me - it is merely workaround and a cumbersome one. Most of my images are within standard SmugMug size limits - I don't want to compress or resize all of my files just because some of them are bigger than 24 MB.

I hoped SmugVault would free me from the hassle of manually selecting and then resizing/compressing some of my files so I am certainly not into a solution where I would have to resize/compress some of the files first and then attach original files!

I'd rather prefer SmugVault work as advertised and - after I activated SmugVault and painfully uploaded my "giant jpgs" - I hope you will be able to make it work that way!

    Hello again,
can you do something about generating these previews? I need the galleries by tomorrow.

I've send two questions related to the problem described in this thread to support heroes yesterday - no answer, neither any heroes appear to be active in this thread - what should I do next? File report in bug reporting sub forum, contact somebody by email?

I see no emails to us from the email address on file that you have used on Dgrin - did you use a different address?

I used "contact real person" link from help pages - I was logged in so there was my email addresss filled in the web form used to send messages to you (and your system acknowledged getting the messages and promised quick reply).

Anyway, the problem is basically described in this thread - should I send another email to you (to help@smugmug.com?) to start solving the problem?

By the way: I needed the pictures in the gallery so I uploaded compressed copies of the JPEGS and moved uncompressed files here: http://fotopan.smugmug.com/Other/SmugVault/17398752_cPLttw for you to look at.
