Burrowing Owls - First shoot with new remote triggers

I've been wanting to shoot some burrowing owls that are camping out in a prairie dog town of a friend of mine. Problem is the remote shutter release I had didn't have a range I was confident in and the prairie dogs ratted me out both times I've been out the last couple weeks. Today I got my new radio triggers from www.TRLcam.com. They were simple to set up and did a good job - I just have to continue learning how to use my new lens, settings wise. Most of the shots were not focused as I picked the lower, front edge of the burrow and shot with a low f/stop. Bad combination. A couple shots came out alright...well enough that I'll have to get back out soon to give it another shot with some different settings.

Cropped images shot with my D300s and 200-400mm with 1.4TC:

C&C welcomed and encouraged. The learning curve for wildlife photography is steep I'm finding out the fun way. :lol3

At one time they were very common West of the Mississippi as they are native to the, now, diminished if - not - almost eradicated prairie dog towns that once covered the Great Plains.

I feel lucky to have access to this pair. deal.gif
