I love this little bird. It has a melodious, bell-like call, and is not particularly shy.

Very nice capture John, it's the smaller birds that I don't shoot enough of, and we will soon be heading up to Algonquin Park to give it a good go of these smaller guys.clap.gifclap

Stunning picture, I have tried shooting wrens but they are just too jumpy and never still long enough.....congrats on a lovely capture!

Thank you folks. Yes, these little bundles of energy test my reflexes. I got lucky with this one, and it landed where the camera was pointed. I got three or four shots. Another little bird that I've (so far) gotten only disappointing shots of is the white-breasted nuthatch. Talk about a perpetual motion machine!

Beautiful photo, pretty bird, great pose, wonderful light, and those fantastic BG's you always seem to manage! Best, Pam

Thank you Pam. If I've learned one thing in my decades of photography, it's that everything starts with the BG.

    Very Nice!

An official photography question: What type of suet are you using? :D

Peanutty. For places available to squirrels, I use a capcaicin infused mixture.

Thanks! I googled "Peanutty suet" and found that a local box store carries it. I'll show hubby this picture and prop. Me + power tool = Emergency Room visit. I'm a beginnner with a beginner DSLR camera and I'm thinking your type of set-up would be a great way for me to practice wild bird photography.
