Rubber 67mm lens hood for Nikon 18-105VR?

i recently bought (through DigitalGrins)a Nikon 18-105VR lens w/Nikon 67mm petal hood, but prefer a rubber (collapsible)hood, but have been unable to find one that does not vignette at Wide Angle. Camera shops either offer rubber hoods that vignette or a very wide hood (with less effect than the Nikon supplied petal hood)that is nearly useless. Does anyone know if such a hood exists, and if so, who makes it (brand name?).
Thanks.

I believe that Hoya makes the one I have. It 'snaps' back into a half-extended position, which solves the vignette problem. I rarely use it fully extended :)

    okay found it, here:

(probably available elsewhere too, but they've got a local store where I got mine. plus I didn't find these on Adorama's site)

    Only proper hood will work!

If you are buying anything but original your problem probably won't go away! The problem is were it mounts. The Nikon bayonet mounts on the outside of the lens barrel. Were the one you have I believe is mounted were your filter is usually. Are you FX or DX(Croped)?

I think I may be able to find one!

All rubber hoods that I can find are filter screw mounts! Not sure about the HoYa though!

I shoot DX. ALL rubber hoods mount on the filter rings. Will try to locate lthe Hoya collapsible model above to see if it works. Thanks. Stan

I found the Hoya 67mm. collapsible rubber lens hood and mounted it. It slightly vignettes (upper corners) at 18mm. I spoke with the Hoya Tech man at THK (Huntington Beach,CA)who said that it was the only hod they sold, did noot know any similar slightly wider hood made by anyone else, that he had no other suggestion. It apperars that the Nikon hard petal hood is all there is.

danged. I'd hoped that would work. bummer! while you could cut the hood, it would limit its usefulness and perhaps look a bit grungy.
