Not Just A Pretty Face

Considering how much abuse these birds get from the public they're looking pretty good. One of the things about the Lorikeet cage at Portland's Zoo is that it's an open environment, you walk into their world. They land on you and feed from the nectar cups the public may buy before entering. Kids get a kick out of it but over-zealous kids try to grab them. not good!

    You would have laughed if you saw me frozen there. All the blood drained from my right arm before I got the shot. I used to be the same way when shooting baby photos professionally years ago. There was no end to my patience.
