Mono Lake

Definitely the most nerve-racking part of my trip to the Eastern Sierras last month. I hit Mono Lake just before sunrise and my patient husband followed me all over while I shot scene after mind-blowing scene. Here are two of the best...alpenglow!!!
and when the sun crested it kissed this lone tufa formation and the clouds were a bonus. I call it Monocerous.
Unfortunately the wind was steady and powerful so I couldn't manage any of those iconic crystal reflections and my travel tripod wasn't quite heavy enough to stay as still as I'd have liked, but what the hell, I did my best. All the more reason to make another trip someday.

My preference is for the second shot. You don't happen to have a landscape-oriented version of that one, do you? I'd love to see the rock formation more off center.
