The Desert Burns

A fire came through Mono Basin (California, Eastern Sierras) a year or two ago and nothing has recovered yet. It was a little eerie if you know what I mean. No birds or greenery to be found. Unfortunately it was also windy as hell so staying out in the flying pumice grit was challenging. Still, I braved it a few times.

Eventually though, the desert bounces back. This area was obviously burned at one point, but so long ago the charring has blown off the dead sagebrush trunks. Oh and those clouds were a major bonus!

These are all near the Mono Craters. One of the best landscapes for the harsh light that made it hard to photograph almost anything else. Thanks for taking a look.
