No osprey yet...but a blue bird instead...

...actually I think it is a western blue jay. (?) This was an off-the-cuff shot...I was walking by, saw him, and fired off a few frames. This guy has taken to sitting on top of our weeping elm, scopes out the perimeter for the "enemy" and then swoops down to steal food from the cat's dish. My new goal: to catch him in flight with the right camera and lens in hand. That blue is beautiful!

You have a nice Gallery. I enjoyed looking around. I'm not sure thats a western blue jay? Beautiful bird! Maybe a Mountain Blue Bird or a juvenile Western Scrub [Blue] Jay? Hard to tell. Jays are larger than Bluebirds.

Western scrub jay for sure. Give him some peanuts and maybe he'll pose for you. :D

Craig, thanks for letting me know what it is! I was guessing. I do think he'd become pretty friendly if I worked at it. He's a smart one, that's for sure. He's got my ranch cats figured out!

And thanks for the comment about my site, Netgarden...I appreciate it. As you could tell, I'm sure, I haven't done a lot of wildlife lately (unless you count my sons and their friends)...but I need to get some practice in because I'll be traveling to Yellowstone in the not too distant future.
