Client sees KEY symbol next to JPG files

I received the following message from a client recently and was wondering if anyone had any idea what this could be about:
Quick question. On the CD you provided of the pics from the ceremony, there is a “key” symbol on/next to each pic when we preview them. Does this indicate that there is a copyright on the pic (which would make it difficult to print at any commercial establishment)?? I know for sure it means the image is protected from editing, just wondering if it means anything more than that.
Are the images somehow latently watermarked that I don't know of and will this actually appear in a print?
I am stumped....
