Just had a quick idea at work, so I brought the camera into the stairwell. These are in-camera jpeg edits, so not the final edit. Am I trying to grab onto something that isn't there?

    Joe,
I'm liking this concept. Leaning towards #1. If it was me I would crop/clone out the dark triangle in the top left corner though. Good luck.

I like the idea, and love the red fire extinquisher. My problem is the blown highlights on the exit sign, which usually don't bother me, but because it's partially obliterating a word, draws attention to itself, but not in a good way.

I likes #2 best so far.

Thanks a lot! I'm pretty sure I'll have about a stop of highlight room to pull back in LR when I get home, but I'm not sure that will be enough for #2. I'll get back in the stairwell and take a few bracketed shots before I leave for the day.

I'll also try a slightly different angle to work on that triangle in the upper left by stepping in closer and down a few steps. That might give a slightly more dramatic expression on the exit sign vs. door.

OK, took some more shots and got a chance to upload to LR3. This is what I came up with.

I like the idea a lot and your last shot more than the others!

I would crop the sides left and right and also the ceiling lamp and also make everything darker,
except for the "EXIT" lamp and door.
