My wife, Jen, and I went on holiday to England and Scotland in June, 2011. We ventured first to the London Motorcycle Museum, Yorkshire Dales, West Highlands of Scotland, and then to Sussex. Jen was very understanding and patient as I stopped the car around every bend to take more pictures. I whittled down the photos to about 730 for the SmugMug gallery.

I reckon "The Shire" in Lord of the Rings was loosely based on the Yorkshire Dales.

We were told that this railway bridge was used in the movie Harry Potter. I have not seen the films so I didn't bother trying to get another shot.

I have fond memories of trips to England and Scotland during the 1990s. A few of your photographs are of places I visited during those trips. THanks for sharing.

A well captured journey!! I've been to England a few times, and have yet to be able to get into the country (business trips). I am hoping that this next time around, I will be able to escape the city, which I have seen enough of, and view the beauty of the world outside. Maybe I'll get some excellent shots just like you did.

Also, I am 85% sure they were being honest about the Harry Potter railway. Looks very similar, but it viewed at an angle, top-down in the movie.
