More dramatic light would certainly help, but I see a couple of other problems here. The moon is too centered. It would be a more interesting composition if it were above one of the two notches in the trees. The other thing is that even if you had all the rest in place, the moon would still be too small to render what you probably saw at the time. The really impressive moon with a foreground pics that we see are either composites or rely on a super-telephoto lens to compress space from a much greater distance.
Richards says it well. Have to agree with that. Its a nice basic shot that could
benefit from those very points is all. Nice vibrant color to it and I like the clouds in the scene also. Its further nice you captured the picture at all because you saw something there. And there is something there. It may not be pounding with photo impact but its a worthy shot for what it is.
