Suggestion for new action when you click on photo in lightbox

Based on my personal experience and feedback from site visitors, I would like to make a suggestion for easier navigation through a photo gallery.

Many, many online photo galleries allow for users to proceed to the next photo by simply clicking on the photo itself.

However, SmugMug closes the lightbox photo, and you are taken back to the gallery. I know there are right and left arrows at the top of the photo in lightbox; however they are very small.

It is a very natural action to click on the photo and expect it to proceed to the next photo. I can not think of another site where the expected action after clicking on a photo is to close it.

It would almost make more sense to NOT have the photo close when clicked on - that way the user is forced to see that there are small navigation arrows and a "close" option at the top of the page.

Is this something in the works or that is possible for the future?

    I thought about doing that, but I wasn't sure of the proper way to word it where other people could not only understand what I was suggesting but also what words to use so others could easily find it if they were searching for it.

    Will my suggestion not be heard here on the forums?

    Is this something that might already be in the works with the new design?

    Any suggestions as to how to properly word it on the other site if not?

    Don't worry about the wording - I understood just fine what you meant. You can just go ahead adding it to our feedback page and if others like your suggestion, they can leave their comment and vote on it.

    I voted for this one. I have received many complaints from my customers regarding this.
