Faster way to crop in LR 2

Is there a quicker way to crop in LR 2? Right now in the develope mod I click on crop and that brings up the crop edit window, then I click on original (next to the little lock) to set my size, 4x6 5x7 etc.... Is there a way to lock my setting, say 4x6 so that when I do more photos it stays at 4x6, instead of having to choose 4x6 for every photo I want to crop? Right now if I don't choose a size and just start to adjust the crop it will default to custom and not any type of ratio. There has got to be a better way right???????

Crop will always default to the original aspect ratio. You can crop a single photo to your desired size and then sync the crop to all the other photos that you wish to have that same size.

This will put the crop in the exact same position as the first photo. As this may not be the optimal placement, you can easily go from photo to photo, hit the letter R to invoke the crop tool (while in developer), and quickly adjust the crop. Hit Enter to close the crop tool.

I do this on a regular basis, where I tag the photos that I want 8x10 or 5x7, and then adjust the crops in just a few minutes. Learning the keyboard shortcuts in LR saves a TON of mouse clicking :D

    Another option is to:

    - press G to jump to Grid view
    - select all the photos you want to crop
    - expand the Quick Develop panel and select the crop ratio from the drop-down menu (you may need to expand the arrow in the Saved Preset section of the panel)
    - this will apply the crop to all selected photos, press R to jump to the Crop tool and tweak composition as needed

Ummmm, another quick question, lol. Is there a way to rotate the frame before the crop is applied? Say I have a 4x6 crop that is horizontal, is there a way to rotate the frame to vertical then apply the crop?

In Lightroom 2, it is not as easy as it should be. Check out this old tutorial I wrote on the topic: http://www.peachpit.com/guides/content.aspx?g=lightroom&seqNum=187

When you upgrade to Lightroom 3, you just need to press the X key when in the Crop tool.

Also you can just press R to go straight to crop mode.
