We were visiting with my son in law's parents, I got them to pose for a few shots. The dad recently had a stroke, he's doing great, a lot to be happy about!
Yep Jeff, you nailed it. I live in AZ and sometimes the ground/dirt/cement can really bounce up and give a wonderful glow from below. We were right by a pool under a covered area right at the edge of the shade, facing the sun.

The only tiny change I might make would be to tighten up the crop on the first one to cut out the house in the background, but I think that's more a matter of personal preference than anything else.

It appears you were under an overhang or porch with some sun baked concrete nearby. Nearly garage lighting!
