Northern Plains Weather

I've been enjoying all the fall photos this week-- it seems like a great year this time around, especially in the Northeast (I miss Pennsylvania!). Anyway-- I wanted to show everyone what sort of place I have to deal with. Both photos were taken around the same time, and I tried for the same angle, though it was difficult with the second as a lot of my visual cues were missing. Taken in Minot, North Dakota, this photo is the true essence of this place. Nothing is moderate, everything is extreme! We have no seasonal transition here-- it changes with the flip of a switch. The first photo was taken during 50 knot winds, the second, ironically, was also taken during 50 knot winds! The day I seperate from the military, I will leave this place and not look back! Taken with a canon rebel xt, both with a canon 70-200MM L-series. Neither pics are very good-- mere snapshots, but they speak volumes. I have to say that at the very least, I got to stay home for the day.

I wish it would snow. I love the snow. Rain and snow are my favorite weather events. And fog with rain or snow. hehe.
