How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Could you discuss the lighting on that fantastic cattle egret shot?
Natural selection is responsible for every living thing that exists.
D3s, D500, D5300, and way more glass than the wife knows about.
Thanks John. As for the cattle egret capture, here's the original SOOC
OK but not too fascinating. So in ACR I adjusted the temp from 5000 to 7500, increased the black to 9 and the clarity to 67 and brought this into PS
Then I just cropped most of frame right out of the capture, applied some sharpening, and used Nik' Color Efex Pro's Brilliance/Warmth tool to up the brilliance a tad
As for NYC or Florida it depends on scheduling. Right now in Florida the rookery season is ending and things really won't pick up again until the fall which is OK because it get gets so damn hot down here from late June through early Sept. From October on the local action is pretty good through May and the rookery season at St Augustine runs from late March through mid June.

Its captures like this that makes me appreciate's Nikon's FF sensors. I don't think I would have been able to get a usable capture in those conditions with my D300.

Thanks Glenn and I'm fond of the cattle egret capture myself. Its funny how I avoid taking cattle egret captures for 9 months out of the year (kind of drab and uninteresting subjects) but when they get their breeding colors on its a whole other story.

And then they are usually hidden instead of out in the open when you are not interested in photographing them!

Thanks Mike, PS can make an ordinary capture look good but it can't save a bad capture.
