Feature request - 2 step log in

Hi

Would it be possible to request something like this to be enabled?

Im going travelling soon and can't really afford to have a pro account (that has the assistant password option). I thought that would be the safest way to upload.

However on Facebook they have introduced 2 step log in procedures. Google have done this recently also.

Is this something that could be feasible? It would make uploading more secure right?

Thanks.

Nish.

As long as you have a strong password you don't have to worry about people getting into your SmugMug site - it's' very secure :).

A 2 step type of login could be a great idea. You can submit a request for that on our User Voice page (link below.

I really hate to ask this, but what is a two-step login? One that literally takes two steps to do? Please tell me that isn't the case...

This is what I thought he meant at first. After reading again maybe he wants to allow 2 people to be able to log in... not sure :).

    Hi all

Sorry for the delay. Been really busy.

    By 2-step, I mean this:

    http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/static.py?page=guide.cs&guide=1056283&topic=1056284

It would provide really good security for me when travelling as Ill be using public computers and there could be malware on there. If someone gets my password they could mess with my account, or even be really malicious and delete photos / videos.

The assistant password is a great feature which is exactly what I need but its only available on the top account (which I cannot afford).

Ahhh, I see. This could be a good method to require when changing passwords, which would effectively lock out the hacked logins. But to have to do this every time would be a real speed bump in workflow. I mean, just not being able to tab to the 'Keep me logged in' box makes me curse SM each time...

    Agreed.

Google have the option to enable it though. So its opt in. And you can disable it at anytime.

I cant think of a reason not to implement the feature?

Except that we're swamped with so many feature requests that are higher priority - glad you put in our feature request system, thanks!

That would work if it's opt-in. Add it to the feedback system and get the word out: feedback.smugmug.com thumb.gif
