Well, new camera, first DSLR, first outing.....London Zoo. Great day but 140 pictures and most came out terrible. Much to learn. :scratch Quite pleased with these two (same bird!!) & knowing of a few bird loving grinners I thought I would share.

...you may think. Watch that histogram! Shoot as far to the right as possible without blowing the highlights. Shoot-check histogram-adjust exposure compensation-reshoot. The film is free. Good luck. :D

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    It's the 350D with Sigma f/2.8 EX DG 24-70mm.
Hers a few more, the owl although stunning was kept inside a tight mesh cage hence the blurring. It was the only one awake and with eyes like that I had to have a go:

Thanks Ben, Ric & everyone else. I'll take your advice and learn to use the histogram when shooting as it is something I have never used before.

This particular Zoo has a few nice walk through areas where I shot the first two shots posted. The birds came down to the perch, obviously posing and these were taken very close to the subject. Sky was a thick grey all day and I was concerned to use any flash so close to them. I'm looking forward to going again once I'm a little more up to speed with my camera and hopefully with some longer reaching glass. I'll post a few more zoo pics once I get round to them on another thread. Thanks again for helpful comments. :D
