We had quite the storm roll through the other day. Highly active with lots of bolts like these 2 coming around all about the place. Very exciting to experience. Sigma 10-20 @ 17mm, f13, 200 ISO, 10 sec.

The first one is spectacular, the second seems more subtle, if lightening can be subtle.

Wow! Beautiful captures. Inspires me to try something like this the next time a storm rolls through/past our area. Thanks for the EXIF.

Hey Richard :D Nice of you to say about the effort. Very appreciated.
Was one heck of a hell raiser storm mwink.gif I practically forgot about all the hazard precautions and flew out the door for some shots. So did several of my neighbors. High caution wasn't exactly on their minds either lol3.gif Ya, laugh about it now. So I did yet another round of google look sees. Like photographer dies taking lightning pics.... and so on :cry
This place had some sound advice for... you know... clueless types like me headscratch.gifD Well, not totally clueless.

I think everybody should know what the deal is as discussed there if they haven't already.

Thx for saying Werner thumb.gif Nice.
Know what you mean. 2 Is more subtle pic as you say, then lightning is also just as you continue to say. Yes and no at the same time :D

I know :D:D:D not exactly brilliant conduct. Those last 2 words don't exactly line up right on theme headscratch.gif
Apparently running isn't a good option either rolleyes1.gif
Shot 1 is likely my best ever and strangely enough I still would like to get something more as good or better yet. I missed anything excellent from the lastest storm. Was on site too late and then there was the rain and wind preventers in place.
    Appreciate your feedback. Thank you!

And to think I had up to 10mm and didn't use it. I was way too close at 17. Plus my son was there sitting and watching. Man, when I think of that... Still need to let him know how unbright we were being. Think I'll do that now.
Thanks for your thoughts about the shot. Very nice to get.

Very cool shots DaddyO. The first one looks like the bolt is going right through the power lines.

Thanks Mary Kim :D After all this time I finally got a decent shot. Now to work on getting something better for interesting with structures or other things in the pic as well.
